Abstract

Abstract submission for 58th Annual PAPS Meeting 2025 is now CLOSED.

Abstract portal status

CLOSED

Educational objectives

The PAPS Annual Meeting is designed to provide comprehensive continuing education in the field of pediatric surgery. It is PAPS’s intent to bring the world’s leading authorities together with presentations and discussions of the most recent clinical and research efforts.

Our organization is focused on clinical pediatric surgery and the international, cross cultural sharing of clinically innovative surgical techniques. Surgeons at our meeting concentrate on learning the newest surgical techniques which may have initially been developed and popularized in one country and can now be applied on an international scale.

Before you submit

In order to submit an abstract to PAPS, one of the authors MUST be an Active or Senior PAPS member. ALTERNATIVELY, if none of the authors is a PAPS member, you MUST ask an Active or Senior PAPS member to sponsor your submission and provide their name, email address and a sponsoring letter. If you are a ANZAPS member you will need to provide proof of  traineeship and or membership for your submission.

Abstract submitted MUST NOT have been published elsewhere. Both the Presenting and Senior Authors who submit such published work will be penalized from submitting to PAPS meetings for one year.

The Presenting author MUST confirm that at least one author will register in full by 3 February 2025 (Deadline for Early Bird Conference Registration) to attend and present the paper at the Conference. Failure to register may result in both the Presenting and Senior Authors becoming penalized from submitting to PAPS meetings for one year.

Abstracts will only be considered for one prize.

Author and abstract information MUST be in English. Please avoid using ALL CAPS.

All Presentations

Please upload your abstracts through our abstract submission portal. Select the Category first. For all Categories excluding PAPS Prize and Video, you may select ORAL or POSTER mode of presentation. Fill in the standard format for all abstract submissions with sections for Purpose, Method, Results and Conclusion. A maximum of 300 words and 2 optional image uploads are included.

Oral Presentations (Full Oral vs. Short Oral vs. Quick Shot Oral vs. PAPS Prize Session)

Highest scored abstracts will be awarded a FULL ORAL or SHORT ORAL presentation with 4 or 3 minute presentations, respectively, followed by 2 minute discussion. All abstracts accepted for FULL ORAL or SHORT ORAL presentation are eligible for manuscript submission. Lower scored abstracts will be allocated to the QUICK SHOT ORAL sessions (2 minute presentation, less than 5 slides per talk) or POSTER sessions.

If the abstract is presented by a trainee, and he/she wishes to enter the PAPS Prize category, then please submit via the PAPS Prize category. The PAPS Prize has 2 subcategories: Clinical or Basic Science. PAPS Prize Session candidates MUST provide the name of a PAPS member sponsor, and a letter to prove that they are a trainee. Once a PAPS Prize Session submission is accepted, a manuscript MUST be submitted. Trainees who do not wish to enter the PAPS Prize competition should submit via the category of ORAL presentation.

Video Presentations

Presenters will be allowed a 4 minute video presentation plus 1 minute for discussion. VIDEO MUST NOT EXCEED 4 MINUTES. The video MUST be narrated in English. A short descriptive abstract MUST also be uploaded to the abstract submission portal along with the video itself. Please follow the same Purpose, Method, Results and Conclusion format as best as possible even if your video is simply showing a case report or a new technique. Video format MUST be MP4 file ONLY with maximum file size 500MB. English captions are appreciated, but not mandatory.

Poster Presentations

You can opt for a POSTER DISPLAY ONLY without consideration for an ORAL presentation. Additionally, abstracts not selected for ORAL presentation may be awarded a POSTER presentation. All posters will be PAPER POSTERS.
